THE BOOK
This is a Bible lesson showing the Bible is not a
myth and it could only have come from God. Please let the Bible it's self show that God did inspire it and the things in it really did happen.
Look how the Bible says that it came into
being.
2 Peter 1:20-21 above all, you must understand that no
prophecy of
Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation.
21 For prophecy
never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke
from God as they
were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
Was it by the Holy Spirit speaking through selected men?
The prophets were men selected by God to give men His
message.
Why do you believe the Bible
came from God?
My reason for believing is
that I believe in God and if there is a God; He would want His creation to know that He is our creator
and what His will is.
Another reason I believe is:
The Bible is indestructible! The world Bible society
prints about 140 million Bibles each year. 75 million are printed each
year by the American Bible Society. There is no way it can ever cease
to exist; though some have tried to destroy all copies of it.
The Bible is just as relevant to the problems of society
today as it was 2000 years ago:
We still have the same social
problems today that existed when it was written: theft, murder, greed, sexual crimes,
drunkenness, etc. The Bible still has the best way of dealing with and
preventing these.
Erroneous ideas are left out of the Bible, it has not been
changed to conform to the world's beliefs of the times. (Such as the
world being flat. If it was written solely by uninspired men they
surely would have included some of the popular beliefs of the times that
were untrue but we don't find any in the whole Bible. God has
written it and protected it!
The law God gave His people when they came out of Egypt has
health laws in it which were not practiced by any people at this
time. In fact; it has become logical to do these things only in
the past 100 years because of our knowledge of diseases and how they
spread. We call it quarantine today!
Leviticus 13:45 "The person with such an infectious
disease must wear
torn clothes, let his hair be unkempt, cover the lower
part of his face
and cry out, "Unclean! Unclean!" 46 As long as
he has the infection he
remains unclean. He must live alone; he must live outside
the camp.
At a time when worldly scholars thought the world to be flat
the Bible says the earth is round.
Isaiah 40:22 He sits enthroned above the circle of the
earth, and its
people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the
heavens like a canopy,
and spreads them out like a tent to live in.
If it says the earth has a circle isn't it round?
The Bible says the earth is
suspended in space and the northern skies are empty. We now know that the earth is indeed "hanging
on nothing" and if you go to a very northern latitude and look up you will
see a large space in the sky around the North star. This is because the
earth is located near the top of the Milky Way galaxy and when you go to
the north and look up you are looking right out of our galaxy. How did Job (who lived at the same latitude as my home in
Virginia, USA) know about
these things unless God revealed them to him?
Job 26:7 He spreads out the northern (skies) over empty
space; he
suspends the earth over nothing.
Good men should have corrected what would have appeared as errors to them but
God has protected His word. God has also revealed many things that we have only
proven in the last 200 years. We can be sure that the Bible is still
what God intended it to be and has not been modified by men to fit their
beliefs.
Matthew Fontaine Maury was a navigator in the 1800's and one
time when he was ill, he had his son read to him from the Bible. When
he read in Psalms 8 about the `Paths of the sea", Matthew said,
"If the Bible says there are paths in the sea I will find them." He discovered
the ocean currents and charted them. His charts are still in use today.
Psalms 8:8 the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea,
all that swim
the paths of the seas.
All men are from the same
source- Adam. For many years it was believed that Negroes and other races who looked different from
Caucasians had originated from a different source than they had. In
recent years genetic research has proven that we all had the same ancestor;
which the Bible said all along.
Acts 17:26 From one man he made every nation of men, that
they should
inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set
for them and
the exact places where they should live.
When the Dead Sea Scrolls were found in 1949; because they
were written 3000 years ago; it was thought they would yield some
differences in these scriptures and the ones we were now using to translate
the Bible we have today. The only differences were in spelling of words and
there was no standard for spelling in those days. So once again we can
be sure the Bible we have today is the original preserved by God for
us.
In Exodus 5 when Moses tried to get Pharaoh to let God's
people go; the Israelites were told to make bricks and they weren't
going to be given any straw. They had to go out and pull up the stubble and use
it for straw and still later they had to make bricks with no straw at
all to keep up their quota each day. When the city of Pithom was
excavated they found
normal bricks in the lower parts of buildings and higher
up bricks made with stubble and on top were bricks with no straw at all.
Archaeology verifies the stories we read about in the Bible.
Would God go to all that trouble
to give us the Bible and protect it's purity if after giving it to us we could not read and
understand it and obey it?
I Corinthians 14:33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace.
The Bible is not the cause of religious confusion but men's
prejudiced doctrines and creeds are.
The Bible can be understood if we consider who is doing the
speaking, who is he speaking to, and what is the situation at the time.
The New Testament was written in the Greek language of the
common man. It then became a dead language which was no longer used.
The advantage of this is that the meaning of the words did not change with
time and became fixed. Thus we can know that we have true meaning of the
words in the New Testament.
Would a just God say this and not give us instructions we
could understand?:
Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to me,
"Lord, Lord," will enter the
kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my
Father who is in
heaven.
We have a just God who has given
us a Bible that can be understood if we lay aside men's ideas of what it should say and look at
what it really says.
1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is
not a God of disorder but of peace.
God wants unity and peace in His Kingdom not the disorder
that is found in the denominational world today caused by misuse of the
Bible.
God doesn't want us ignorant! He wants us to understand what
His will is.
Ephesians 5:17 Therefore do not be foolish, but
understand what the
Lord's will is.
We have a Bible we can be sure
is from God and has been protected by Him down through the ages. It can be understood and followed
if we seriously try. Do not trust others to read it for you; read
it for yourself.
