Selfish requests

“But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.”  (Matthew 6:6 NKJV)

“Therefore do not be like them: for your Father knows the things you have need of, before you ask Him.  (Matthew 6: 8)

Use the Lord’s prayer below as an example as He also used it to show the proper way to pray:

    In this manner, therefore pray: 

          Our Father in heaven,
          Hallowed be Your name.
          Your kingdom come. 
          Your will be done
          On earth as it is in heaven.
          Give us this day our daily bread.
          And forgive us our debts,
          As we forgive our debtors.
          And do not lead us into temptation,
          but deliver us from the evil one: 
          For Yours is the kingdom, and the power,
          and the glory, forever.  Amen.  (Matthew 6:9-13 NKJV)
